After being held scoreless through the first four innings, the Brewers broke the seal in a big way in the fifth.
Starter Nelson Hernandez (2-0) worked his way out of base runners in every inning, allowing just one run off seven hits while walking one and striking out one in five innings of work.
In the sixth, Helena added two more runs to their lead. Zach Clark led off the inning with a triple, the first triple of the season for the Brewers, and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Antonio Pinero, extending the Brewers lead to 6-0. The Brewers blew the game open in the seventh with another big hit from Gomez. A hit-by-pitch, single and walk loaded the bases, and Gomez sent a ball over the left field wall for a grand slam, his second home run of the night, to give Helena an 11-1 lead. Gomez finished the night 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. Pinero, Garcia and Brent Diaz all finished the night with two hits.
