Rosario seeing double for Las Vegas

Amed Rosario is finding that good things come to him in pairs in his first Triple-A season.
On Thursday night, the top Mets prospect delivered a homer and a triple to run his multi-hit streak to six games as Las Vegas was edged, 6-5, by Iowa at Cashman Field. Rosario has recorded two knocks in each game -- six singles, two homers, two triples and two doubles, and he's hitting at a .429 clip in 28 at-bats. The contest marked the first one of the streak in which both hits went for extra bases.

Through 40 games, MLB.com's third-ranked prospect is hitting .366 -- sixth in the Pacific Coast League -- with 27 RBIs and eight steals.
Iowa scored twice in the first inning on a single by Victor Caratini, the Cubs' 12th-ranked prospect. Rosario cut into the lead in the bottom of the frame with a solo shot off of right-hander Seth Frankoff. The homer was the fourth of the season for the 21-year-old.
The right-handed batter nearly put another out in the seventh against Iowa reliever Félix Peña. After Mets No. 9 prospect Brandon Nimmo drew a one-out walk, Rosario lofted a fly ball over the head of center fielder John Andreoli that caught the top of the fence. He hustled out his third triple of the season, starting a four-run rally that put the 51s out in front, 5-2.

Dominic Smith follows Rosario on New York's prospects list and hit cleanup all 38 times Rosario has been third in the order. In a 3-for-5 performance Thursday, Smith followed each of Rosario's hits with a single, driving home the Las Vegas shortstop with a knock up the middle in the seventh.
Together, Smith and Rosario account for more than 30 percent of RBIs (54), more than 25 percent of runs scored (49) and nearly 29 percent of all 391 hits accumulated by the 51s this season (113).
Las Vegas surrendered the lead after a pair of errors by second baseman Gavin Cecchini, the Mets No. 6 prospect, on consecutive plays in the eighth. Stephen Bruno capped the four-run frame with a sacrifice fly to plate the go-ahead run for Iowa.
Sixth-ranked Cubs prospect Mark Zagunis finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
