Mets reassign Smith to play for 51s

As Spring Training comes to a close and players pack their bags, more prospects have learned where they will unpack their belongings.
The Mets reassigned second-ranked prospectDominic Smith to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, leading a slew of moves across the league.

MLB.com's No. 63 overall prospect went 6-for-36 (.167) with four RBIs and five walks with New York this spring. Coming off another strong season in the Mets system, the 21-year-old first baseman hit .302 with 14 homers and 91 RBIs with Double-A Binghamton in his fourth season since being selected 11th overall in the 2013 Draft.
The Mets also assigned No. 16 prospect Luis Carpio, No. 17 prospect Luis Guillorme, No. 20 prospect Josh Smoker and No. 30 prospect T.J. Rivera to the 51s. (Note: Smoker and Rivera are expected to be in the Majors on Opening Day, while Carpio and Guillorme will likely open in the lower Minors.)
Cleveland optioned Erik González to Triple-A Columbus. After making his big league debut in 2016, the club's No. 8 prospect batted .308 (16-for-52) with two long balls and 11 RBIs this spring.
Tampa Bay's No. 15 prospect Jaime Schultz was optioned to Triple-A Durham after going 0-1 with a 1.84 ERA, 10 walks and 22 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings.
Southpaw Luis Ysla was reassigned to Double-A Portland by Boston. The club's No. 21 prospect notched a 4.26 ERA with six walks and six punchouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Colorado optioned No. 20 prospect Jordan Patterson to Triple-A Albuquerque after he went 16-for-59 (.271) with two jacks and eight RBIs. Colorado also reassigned No. 27 Harrison Musgrave after he posted a 1-0 mark with a 2.76 ERA, two walks and 14 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.
Two days after the D-backs claimed Christian Walker off waivers, Arizona sent him to Triple-A Reno. The club's No. 30 prospect hit .189 (7-for-37) with four RBIs and two walks between Reds and Braves Spring Training.
The Dodgers optioned left-hander Julio Urías, infielder Chris Taylor and outfielder Trayce Thompson, and reassigned catcher Bobby Wilson to the Minor Leagues.
Astros No. 23 prospect James Hoyt picked up the win against the Cubs before being optioned to the Minors. The right-hander went 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA in 11 1/3 innings this spring.
After playing for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic, Cody Decker was released by the Brewers. The first baseman spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Padres and made his Major League debut there in 2015 before playing in the Royals, Rockies and Red Sox systems in 2016. Milwaukee signed Decker on Jan. 9, but he did not get into a big league game.
