At some point, Chance Adams will face some sort of adversity in his professional career. However, that day has yet to come, even as the Yankees' No. 7 prospect approaches 50 career Minor League appearances.

At some point, Chance Adams will face some sort of adversity in his professional career.
However, that day has yet to come, even as the Yankees' No. 7 prospect approaches 50 career Minor League appearances.

Adams turned in a sterling Triple-A debut, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six over five shutout innings in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 6-2 win over Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.
Gameday box score
The 22-year-old sported a 1.03 ERA in six starts with Double-A Trenton. Including his spotless International League debut, Adams (1-0) lowered his ERA to 1.95 in 46 career appearances (31 starts). After pitching exclusively in relief in 2015, the Dallas Baptist product made 24 starts last year and went 13-1 with a 2.33 ERA for Trenton and Class A Advanced Tampa. He struck out 144 batters in 127 1/3 innings and posted a 0.90 WHIP.
The Yankees' 2015 fifth-round pick battled through some jitters in the first inning. Adams retired the first two batters on 11 pitches, but then surrendered a single to Matt Skole and issued consecutive walks to Brandon Snyder and Clint Robinson to load the bases. He retired Nationals No. 9 prospectPedro Severino on a popout to first on his 27th pitch of the inning to keep the game scoreless.

Adams had little trouble over the next four frames. He surrendered a one-out single to Adrían Sanchez in the second and walked Severino in the fourth. The Scottsdale, Arizona native produced a shutdown inning in the fifth after New York's 11th-ranked prospect Tyler Wade doubled in a run in the top of the inning.

Through seven starts this season, the right-hander has fanned 38 in 40 innings while holding opponents to a .175 average, right in line with his career mark of .173.
Yankees second-ranked prospect Clint Frazier singled twice and drove in two runs.
Skole homered, doubled and finished with three hits for Syracuse.
Nationals No. 8 prospect Austin Voth allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over 5 2/3 innings.
