Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville Woodpeckers (29-37) lost an eighth inning lead on Thursday night and saw their three-game win streak come to a halt, falling 4-2 to the Delmarva Shorebirds (23-42) in the final game of the first half schedule.

Cole Urman got things going in the top of the third for the Shorebirds with a solo home run off Jackson Nezuh to take a 1-0 lead. After going down quietly in the first four innings of the game, Will Bush gave the Woodpeckers life with a home run over the bullpen wall to tie the game up 1-1 in the fifth.

The Woodpeckers grabbed their lone lead in the bottom of the seventh on a Waner Luciano sacrifice fly that scored Chase Jaworsky making it 2-1.

The Shorebirds responded in the eighth with an RBI double from Thomas Sosa that tied the game up at 2-2. Anderson De Los Santos gave the Shorebirds the lead on an RBI single and they added on with a bases loaded walk making it 4-2.

Fayetteville had a chance to flip the game in the bottom of the eighth, loading up the bases against Isaac Solano (SV, 1) on a single and a pair of walks, but failed to bring a run home. Solano returned for the ninth and struck out a pair to secure a five-out save.

Nezuh pitched the longest game of his career. The 14th round pick out of Louisiana-Lafayette worked a quality start going six innings of one-run ball. He did not issue a walk and struck out six in a no decision.

Raimy Rodriguez (L, 1-4) relieved Nezuh in the seventh and took the loss going 1.2 innings giving up three runs on two hits, walked five batters and struck out four. Hudson Leach recorded the final out of the eighth, striking out three of the four Shorebirds he faced.

The records now reset in the Carolina League with the second half beginning tomorrow as the Woodpeckers look to hold onto their series lead with a 7:05pm first pitch. The projected starter for the Woodpeckers is RHP Alonzo Tredwell and the Shorebirds will roll with RHP Eccel Correa.
