VANCOUVER, BC – Minor League Baseball has recognized Vancouver Canadians starter Nick Frasso as the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for July 4-10. He is the seventh C’s player to earn the honor and the fourth Canadians pitcher to be highlighted at the top of their class, joining Chad Dallas, Trent Palmer, P.K. Morris, Sem Robberse, Addison Barger and Davis Schneider as league award winners for Vancouver this season.

Frasso made his introduction to the Northwest League in a near-historic showing last Monday in Everett. After inducing a weak pop up from his first batter, he went on to strikeout eight consecutive hitters – one shy of tying the league record – and K’d a total of ten over four hitless innings. His only blemish was a two-out walk to the twelfth batter of the game after retiring his first 11 in a row. Two of his strikeouts were opposite big league rehabber and 2020 American League Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis.

The Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA native began the 2022 season with Single-A Dunedin, where he made seven starts and posted a 0.70 ERA in 25.2 innings of work. He struck out 42, walked eight and limited Florida State League batters to a .146 ERA.

A 4th round pick (106th overall) in 2020 out of Loyola Marymount, Frasso is amid his first full professional season after logging just five innings with Dunedin in 2021. His last lengthy campaign came as a sophomore at LMU in 2019 when he went 2-2 with a 2.22 ERA in 19 games (five starts) with 10 saves – the third-most in the West Coast Conference and 44th nationally – and was named to the All-WCC Second Team and WCC All-Tournament Second Team.

Frasso and the Canadians return home this week to take on the Hillsboro Hops (Diamondbacks) at Nat Bailey Stadium. The six-game series begins Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Coverage can be found on CanadiansBaseball.com, MiLB.TV and the Sportsnet Radio Network.
