Left hander Shane Drohan (4-7) got the start for the Drive facing fellow lefty, Ben Brecht (1-1) from the Hot Rods.
Bowling Green exploded early with back to back first inning home runs from Kyle Manzardo and Heriberto Hernandez, both deep shots to left field and the second home run for each in the series.
Drohan settled down, pitching four scoreless innings after the rocky start; Brecht pitched five scoreless innings, but allowed six hits.
The Drive tied the game at two in the bottom of the sixth when Jaxx Groshans tripled on a full count offering from Hot Rods reliever Audrey Lugo (6-1) plating Gilberto Jimenez. Groshans then scored off a hard hit single from Antoni Flores.
The opposing club answered with an RBI single off the bat of Mason Aur.
The Drive threatened in the eighth with bases loaded, no outs and capitalized by a Niko Kavadas RBI single that brought Phillip Sikes and Matthew Lugo home to put the Drive on top 4-3.
However, the Hot Rods Alika Williams moved Abiezel Ramirez and Gionti Turner around the bases to score, putting Bowling Green back in the lead.
At the bottom of the ninth Joe Davis hit a single leaving Niko Kavadas to work his magic, and he came in clutch with a walk-off home run to win the game 6-5. Cody Scroggins (1-0) picked up the win while Cameron Leonard (2-1) absorbed the loss.
RHP Thad Ward (0-0, 6.00) and RHP Victor Munoz (2-2, 4.50) face off in tomorrow night’s game where the Drive will look to even the series. First pitch slated for 7:05.
