Hartford, Connecticut – The Somerset Patriots (78-48) threw their second no-hitter in franchise history as the nightcap in a double header sweep of the Hartford Yard Goats (72-55) at Dunkin' Donuts Park on Wednesday night.
Yankees No. 12 prospect RHP Yoendrys Gomez started the game with five hitless innings and the no-hit effort was finished off with two perfect innings by Yankees 2021 Rule 5 Draft pick RHP Steven Jennings.
Somerset ceded only one baserunner in the game, a two-out walk dealt by Gomez in the fourth inning. Somerset won the game 5-0, as Gomez' season-high five hitless innings resulted in his first win of the season.

Rodolfo Duran caught the no-hitter, went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and supplied Somerset with the game-winning hit, a two-run home run (8) in the fourth inning. Max Burt (11) added a home run later that inning to give Somerset a 3-0 lead.
The Patriots won the game 5-0, after winning the first game of their double header 6-2. The first game was started by RHP Luis Severino, as part of a rehab assignment for the Yankees.
On August 8, 2021, Severino also started the first no-hitter in Somerset Patriots franchise history with four perfect innings. In this game, Severino gave up a two-run home run to Grant Lavigne in the first inning, then proceeded to retire the next 10 batters in order with four strikeouts.

Tanner Myatt earned the win for Somerset with two scoreless innings, before Nelvin Correa pitched the final inning to solidify the 6-2 win.
Andres Chaparro and Elijah Dunham each went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a walk. Chaparro stockpiled 4 RBIs and Dunham scored three times.
Somerset has now swept each of its last three double headers, improving to 8-2 in twin bills this season. Now 78-48 on the season, the Patriots are a season-high 30 games above .500 with the best record in all of Double-A baseball.
The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on Thursday night in Hartford with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at Dunkin Donuts Park.
