Gorman, the first-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, batted .522, going 12-for-23 in five games with three doubles, three home runs, eight RBI, and seven runs scored. He recorded a hit in each Cardinals' game from July 30 through August 5 as part of a nine-game hitting streak. Gorman, 18, currently boasts a .343 average, tied for the fifth-best mark in the Appalachian League.
Martinez, 21, pitched six shutout innings in Burlington's 3-0 win over Pulaski on August 1, allowing just one hit while striking out 12 and not surrendering a walk. The performance lowered his season ERA to 2.54 across 39.0 innings pitched and marked the second time this season he recorded 12 strikeouts in a game. The Kansas City Royals signed the left-handed to a minor league contract on March 7, 2018.
