Offense erupts for 14 runs as Mudcats win third straight

The Mudcats (7-4, 43-36) opened Sunday's matinée with the Dash (5-6, 29-52) by scoring four runs in the first, before later rallying for five more runs in the third. They led 9-0 after three, but the Dash came back with five in the fifth and three more in the sixth to make it a one run game.
The Carolina offense, however, found its groove again in the sixth while scoring four runs before getting one last one in the eighth on a solo home run from Diaz. The Dash came back with two in the ninth, but Carolina managed to hold on while taking the third game of the series 14-10.
Erceg ignited Carolina's 14 run and 15 hit outburst with a three-run home run in the first off Dash starter
Easterling (5-5, 4.84) allowed four runs and four hits in the first and later allowed five more runs on three hits in third before leaving the game. In all, Easterling gave up nine runs on eight hits over two and 1/3 innings and suffered the loss.
Carolina led 4-0 after two before Harrison got the offense going again with a two-run home to left in the third. It was his second homer of the season and his first at Five County Stadium since his promotion to High-A.
Yamamoto pitched through just an inning and 2/3 on Sunday and allowed three runs on four hits. He eventually earned the victory, but finished his appearance after throwing just 38 pitches (22 strikes) between the fifth and sixth.
Winston-Salem scored eight straight runs between the fifth and sixth and had pulled within one of the lead before the Mudcats rallied for four more in the last of the sixth. Gatewood and Hummel both had run scoring hits in the sixth. The Dash also committed two errors in the frame with both leading to runs in the inning.

The win was Carolina's third straight in the series and lifted them to a series victory. It also brought Carolina to a perfect 9-0 home record against and 12-1 overall this season against Winston-Salem.
