A three-run first inning wasn't enough for the Ogden Raptors as the host Great Falls Voyagers powered their way back via the home run for a 6-5 win Tuesday night at Centene Stadium.
With Ogden leading, 4-1, in the bottom of the fourth, Voyagers second baseman Tate Blackman hit a three-run home run to right-center to tie the game. The next inning, Anthony Villa came to the plate with two out and the bases empty and launched a solo shot to right to give Great Falls the lead. Ogden tied the game, 5-5, in the seventh, but Villa opened the bottom of the eighth with his second home run of the game for the final tally.
Mitchell Hansen got the Raptors going in the top of the first with a single to right. With one out, Rylan Bannon singled and Donovan Casey walked to load the bases for Gersel Pitre. Pitre smashed a line drive just a few feet fair inside the right-field line to clear the bases, and he ended up on third with a triple. A line drive to short and deep drive run down in right-center appeared promising for the Raptors to plate more in the first, but they were both hauled in and Pitre was stranded on third.
A double and two groundouts in the second put Great Falls on the board, but Ronny Brito singled in front of a Garrett Hope double in the fourth to extend the lead back to three.
After Villa's first home run put Ogden in a deficit, Brayan Morales singled on the first pitch of the seventh and stole second base. Luis Paz capitalized with a drive inches inside the line in right field and Morales scored easily to tie the game.
The benches cleared briefly in the bottom of the seventh, when Conor Costello threw to second to start a double play and Brito was taken out by a hard slide. Brito had to be carted off the field.
The loss is the third in a row for the Raptors, tying their season-worst losing streak set in the second through fourth games of the campaign, all against the Orem Owlz. Ogden is now 2-4 on the current road trip, with one game to play at Great Falls on Wednesday. The Raptors return home to start a seven-game homestand Friday against Billings and the Voyagers.
