Dodgers Take Series, Beat Express 4-2 on Sunday  

Round Rock Brings Tying Run to the Plate in the Ninth Inning but Falls Short

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (31-23) fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (32-22) by a final score of 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond. The win gives the Dodgers their second series victory over the E-Train this season. Oklahoma City starter RHP Beau Burrows (3-3, 5.22)

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (31-23) fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (32-22) by a final score of 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond. The win gives the Dodgers their second series victory over the E-Train this season.

Oklahoma City starter RHP Beau Burrows (3-3, 5.22) earned the win after a 5.0-inning performance. He allowed one run on five hits and struck out one. Round Rock RHP Tyson Miller (2-3, 5.02) went home with the loss after a 5.0-inning outing out of the bullpen. He allowed three runs on six hits and struck out five. RHP Carson Fulmer tossed 1.0 inning and allowed one run on two hits for his fourth save of the year. He also struck out two batters.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The Express struck first in the third inning when 1B Zach Reks hit a solo bomb to left field and gave Round Rock a 1-0 advantage.
  • Oklahoma City hit back-to-back home runs for the second time in the series during the sixth frame. After DH Jake Lamb hit a single, 1B Ryan Noda hit a two-run homer to center field. RF Jason Martin came up next and belted a solo home run to center field that increased the Dodgers lead to 3-1.
  • The Dodgers added an insurance run in the ninth inning. Back-to-back walks for Martin and SS Andy Burns started the frame. After C Tony Wolters hit into a double play, CF Drew Avans earned a walk. A wild pitch allowed Martin to score from third and gave Oklahoma City a 4-1 lead.
  • Round Rock didn’t go quietly in the bottom of the ninth as 3B Diosbel Arias led the inning off with a double. After 2B Nash Knight flew out to center field and advanced Arias to third base, RF Elier Hernandez struck out. SS Frainyer Chavez doubled to cut the Dodgers lead to 4-2, but the Express couldn’t score again and lost by a final score of 4-2.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Round Rock 1B Zach Reks went 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk. In his two games since returning from the Texas Rangers, Reks is 4-for-7 with two RBI.
  • Express DH Nick Solak finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Solak ends the series hitting 6-for-18 in five games.
  • 3B Diosbel Arias posted back-to-back multi-hit games with a 2-for-3 performance on Sunday. In his five games at Triple-A, Arias is 5-for-14 at the dish.
  • Round Rock SS Frainyer Chavez recorded his first career Triple-A hit during Sunday’s game. The infielder finished 1-for-4 with one RBI in his second appearance for the E-Train.
  • Texas Rangers RHP Jose Leclerc made his third Major League rehab appearance on the mound. The righty threw 0.2 innings and allowed one run. He walked three and did not allow a hit.

Next up: Round Rock will hit the road and take on the Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland Athletics affiliate) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Las Vegas Ballpark. Former Round Rock hurler RHP Collin Wiles (3-4, 6.52) is scheduled to make the start for the Aviators against Express RHP Cole Winn (4-0, 5.31). First pitch is set for 9:05 p.m. CT.
