ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (37-38) secured a 6-3 victory over the Oklahoma City Dodgers (38-37) at Dell Diamond on Saturday night to earn a 2-1 series lead. Four E-Train hitters combined for 11 of Round Rock’s 13 total hits on the night, which included three doubles and a home run.
Round Rock reliever RHP Jason Bahr (2-1, 11.16) earned the win despite allowing one run, which was unearned, that briefly tied the contest. During his 2.0-inning appearance, the righty recorded two strikeouts. The loss went to Dodgers reliever RHP Ryan Moseley (2-5, 7.31), who allowed the three winning runs during 1.1 innings of work.
The Dodgers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. DH Zach Reks crossed home in the first after doubling down the right-field line then scoring as LF Yoshi Tsutsugo hit a double of his own. In the second, CF Drew Avans worked a one-out walk, advanced to second on an Express error, swiped third and finally finished his trip around the bases thanks to a Juan Zabala single.
Round Rock put its first run on the board in the third when 2B Trace Loehr, LF Delino DeShields and CF Leody Taveras knocked consecutive singles. Loehr came home on Taveras’ hit, trimming Oklahoma City’s lead to 2-1.
The fifth saw the Express take over for a 3-2 lead as Loehr singled to left field and was followed by a DeShields walk. Taveras tallied two more RBI with a double that brought both Round Rock runners home.
Oklahoma City knotted the contest at three when Tsutsugo scored thanks to a sacrifice fly from SS Omar Estévez after working a leadoff walk then moving to third on a Cristian Santana single and Express fielding error.
Round Rock broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh frame as DH Nick Solak launched his first home run since joining the Express, which brought DeShields and Taveras, who had both recorded base hits, home with him. The three-run dinger gave the good guys a 6-3 lead, which held until the end as RHP Jake Lemoine tossed a scoreless final two innings for the save.
