Oklahoma City Baseball Club FAQ
Why is the team name changing now?
In Minor League Baseball, it’s become increasingly common for teams to distinguish themselves from their parent organizations and we’re excited for the opportunity to step into a new identity that reflects our cherished community here in Oklahoma City. Previously, the Los Angeles Dodgers were part of our team ownership group until 2021, and although we are so proud of our ongoing affiliation with the Dodgers, we also feel the time is right to celebrate what professional baseball means to our hometown.
Why will the Oklahoma City Baseball Club name be temporary in 2024?
As we look to our future, we first want to take a moment and celebrate our past. Throughout the 2024 season, we will take the field temporarily as the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, with an opportunity for fans to participate in a season-long throwback celebrating the history of baseball in our great city. We want to take our time in creating a new identity while honoring our Triple-A history, which stretches back to 1962. We’ll have new looks for 2024, but also feature throwback nights throughout the season with regular Oklahoma City 89ers nights and City Celebration games.
What will the new team name be in 2025? How will the name be selected? When will it be unveiled?
When our team returns to the field in 2025, it will be under a fresh name and look that embraces the future of baseball in OKC. We want to create something unique for our hometown that is fun and shows off our personality, which are long-standing pillars of Minor League Baseball.
The local community and key stakeholders will be included in our decision process and we have already met with local focus groups as we progress toward a new identity in 2025.
More details will be unveiled following the conclusion of the 2024 baseball season, so stay tuned!
Are you still affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers?
Yes! Our affiliation, or Professional Development League (PDL) license, with the Los Angeles Dodgers is in place through at least the 2030 season. Oklahoma City will remain the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and feature players one step away from Major League Baseball for years to come — just as we have since our affiliation began with the 2015 season.
I just bought new Dodgers gear, what do I do now?
We are still affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers, so continue to proudly wear your Dodger blue at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark!
Several historical marks for Oklahoma City baseball also continue to be part of our brand portfolio, so you will still see familiar logos and looks that continue to represent Oklahoma City baseball in 2024 and beyond.
When can I buy new Oklahoma City Baseball Club merchandise?
Right now! New team merchandise is available in the Team Store located on the west side of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and also online at okcbaseball.milbstore.com.
Will the gameday experience change at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark?
You will notice updated branding and signage throughout the ballpark with our new marks and logos in 2024 and players will wear new uniforms, but you can count on the same family friendly environment, great food and fun you’re accustomed to experiencing on game days at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The top talent in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system will continue to take the field for home games as the team defends its 2023 Pacific Coast League title. The Blue Crüe entertainment team will also return in 2024, along with fan-favorite mascots Brooklyn and Brix — just with new looks and uniforms.
