Reyes (1-0) looked every bit of the front-line starter the Cardinals envision him as. Over his five-shutout innings of work he struck out 12, most by an opposing pitcher this season, and held Clinton to just one hit during his time out.
The Chiefs opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning against Clinton starter Ray Kerr.
Kerr (1-3), again, ran into trouble in the third inning. The lefty walked three batters to load the bases and was removed from the game following a, two out, two-run single by
Peoria's scoring ended in the bottom of the fifth with their third home run of the night.
Clinton's bats awoke in the sixth inning following Reyes departure.
The comeback would go no further as the LumberKings would be set down 1-2-3 in the ninth all by way of the strikeout by Oviedo who picked up his first save of the season.
