MISSOULA, MONT. - On Monday afternoon, the Pioneer League announced that Missoula Osprey outfielder Gabriel Maciel was added to the league's 2017 All-Star Team as a replacement. The addition pushes the Osprey to four representatives in the third annual Pioneer League-Northwest League All-Star game, as Maciel joins Osprey infielder Keshawn Lynch, catcher Dominic Miroglio, and pitcher Abraham Almonte in the festivities.
Maciel, a switch-hitting outfielder, has enjoyed a tremendous season in his second professional campaign, hitting .366 with two home runs and 13 RBI in 23 first-half games. Despite missing almost two weeks to injury in mid-July, Maciel has managed the fifth-highest batting average on the circuit. In his most impressive feat to date, the Brazilian native owns the league's longest hitting streak of the year, boasting an active 17-game run.
The third annual 2017 Pioneer League-Northwest League All-Star Game will be held at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro, Oregon on Tuesday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m. (MT) first pitch and can be viewed on MiLB.TV.
