AMARILLO, Texas - MLB's No. 33-rated prospect and the San Diego Padres' No. 4-rated prospect (according to MLB.com), right-handed pitcher Luis Patiño, has been promoted to Double-A Amarillo from High-A Lake Elsinore.
Patiño, 19, who was signed as an international free agent by Padres on July 2, 2016, started the 2019 season with High-A Lake Elsinore.
Over 17 starts this season, he held a 6-8 record with a 2.69 ERA over 87.0 innings pitched. He allowed just 61 hits, 26 earned runs and 34 walks with 113 strikeouts and holds a Minor League career record of 16-13 over 46 game starts with a 2.39 ERA.
The six-foot righty was one of three Padres farmhands selected to participate in the 2019 MLB Futures Game and was selected as the California League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 29th to August 4th.
