MOBILE, Ala. (May 15, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, hit two home runs Monday night but came up two runs short in a 4-2 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Wade Wass and Michael Hermosillo both hit long balls for Mobile (15-23). With a solo shot in the fourth, Wass has now hit five homers in the last three series and is the first BayBear to homer in consecutive games this year. Hermosillo's blast off Tyler Higgins (1-3) tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth.
However, Cody Buckel (1-2) gave up a two-out, two-run homer to former BayBear Alex Glenn in the top of the ninth to put Jacksonville (15-23) ahead for good. Both of Glenn's home runs this season have come against Mobile.
BayBears starter Grayson Long struck out a season-high eight batters in five innings. He allowed runs in the third and fifth innings and took no decision.
Forrestt Allday went 2-for-4 to extend his on-base streak to 20 games. He leads the team with 10 multi-hit games.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. CT. Right-hander Osmer Morales (1-0, 2.82 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Chris Mazza (0-2, 3.82 ERA) for Jacksonville.
