JUPITER, FL – The Palm Beach Cardinals (68-43, 31-14) suffered their ninth shutout loss of the season as they fell 5-0 to the Jupiter Hammerheads (58-52, 23-22) on Saturday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. It is the first shutout loss against Jupiter in 2024 as Palm Beach still leads 12-8 in the regular season "Fins and Feathers" series.

The Hammerheads got on the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning off of Palm Beach starting pitcher Gerardo Salas. With runners at first and second base and one out, Fenwick Trimble reached on a fielding error by Cade McGee which loaded the bases. Then, Carter Johnson hit a two-RBI single to right field to give Jupiter the early 2-0 lead.

Jupiter's starting pitcher Juan De La Cruz finished with four scoreless innings in his second start of the season and would pick up a no-decision. Salas settled down and finished with six innings pitched and allowed two runs with only one run being earned.

The Hammerheads added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning off of Cardinals’ relief pitcher Angel Cuenca. With runners at first and second base, Trimble hit an RBI single to extend the Jupiter lead to 3-0. In the top of the eighth inning, Garret Forrester drove in two runs on a two-RBI single to give the Hammerheads the largest lead of the series at 5-0.

Palm Beach only had three hits in the entire game as the Cardinals were shut out 5-0 on Saturday night. Jupiter relief pitcher Brandon White (W, 4-5) went four scoreless innings in relief and kept the Cardinals' offense from crossing home plate. For the Cardinals, only Ryan Campos, Cade McGee, and Ross Friedrick had a hit in the ballgame.
