Palm Beach sweeps Daytona, win seventh straight

The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in its 6-3 series sweeping victory over the Daytona Tortugas. After trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, Palm Beach put up a four-spot on the scoreboard. The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in its 6-3 series sweeping victory over the Daytona Tortugas. 
After trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, Palm Beach put up a four-spot on the scoreboard. Ryan McCarvel, Kramer Robertson, Taylor Bryant and Shane Billings all recorded an RBI in the frame. 
Sam Tewes settled in after allowing that second inning run and finished his six inning outing retiring the final eight batters he faced. In all, Tewes allowed three earned runs and struck out eight. 
Jacob Patterson came in relief and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. 
In his first appearance since July of 2017, Cardinals' #11 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Junior Fernandez, enduced two double plays in 1 2/3 innings and earned his first save of the season. 
Brian O'Keefe was the last of five different Cardinals' batters to record an RBI. Bryant drove in his second run of the game in the eighth.
The Cardinals now sit 1.5 games ahead of Jupiter for first place of the Florida State League South Division with eight games left to play.
Palm Beach will host Ft. Myers and will complete five games before Friday's all-star break. On Monday, the teams will finish a suspended game that was started in Ft. Myers before playing the reguarly scheduled nine-inning series opener and then the three regularly scheduled games Tuesday through Thursday.
