Erie SeaWolves third baseman/shortstop Isaac Paredes has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 29th-August 4th. The 20-year old batted .552 (16-for-29) with two doubles, one home run, five RBIs, four runs scored, one walk, and a .724 slugging percentage in seven games for the SeaWolves last week. Paredes, who is a native of Hermosillo, Mexico, had at least one hit in all seven games he played in last week and had multiple hits in six of those games, including collecting three hits in three games during the week. The 5'11", 225 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in batting average (.552), hits (16), and total bases (21) last week. He also finished ranked among the weekly leaders in OPS (1.291-2nd), on-base percentage (.567-3rd), slugging percentage (.724-4th), doubles (2-tied 4th), RBIs (5-tied 7th), and home runs (1-tied 8th). In 101 games with the SeaWolves this season Paredes is hitting .279 with 21 doubles, nine home runs, 47 RBIs, and 52 runs scored. Isaac, who is rated by MLB.com as the fifth best prospect in the Detroit organization, was acquired by the Detroit Tigers in a trade from the Chicago Cubs on July 31, 2017. He was originally signed by the Cubs on June 4, 2016.

Brian Keller, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 29th-August 4th. The 6'3", 210 lb. hurler started one game for the Thunder last week and had a record of 1-0 with six strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Keller, who is a native of Germantown, Wisconsin, made his lone start of the week in the opening game of a doubleheader on Thursday night against the visiting Altoona Curve and tossed the second no-hitter of the season by a Trenton pitcher in a 2-0 victory. He walked one batter and struck out six while throwing 53 of his 70 pitches for strikes over his seven innings of work. The 25-year old ranked first among all Eastern League pitchers in shutouts (1), WHIP (0.14), and batting average against (.000) last week and tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00) and complete games (1). He also finished ranked among the weekly leaders in wins (1-tied 2nd). Brian, who has a record of 3-1 with 33 strikeouts and a 2.32 ERA in seven starts for the Thunder this season, was selected by the New York Yankees in the 39th round of the 2016 draft after putting together a record of 10-3 with a 3.10 ERA in 15 starts during his senior season at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
