Richmond, Virginia - The Somerset Patriots (40-24) allowed seven unanswered runs after an early lead to drop Saturday night’s game 7-3 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (36-29) at the Diamond.
The game, which began in a 48 minute rain delay, was called in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs.
Somerset jumped ahead with three early runs over the first two innings. Oswaldo Cabrera opened the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first, and was brought home two batters later on a Michael Beltre RBI single. Max Burt (3) later led off the second with a solo home run to provide a 3-0 lead.

From there, Richmond plated seven unanswered runs, including five in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run home run from Diego Rincones (1) and a two-run blast from Simon Whitman (2).
Solo home runs from Vince Fernandez (13) in the third and Will Wilson (1) in the fifth topped off the scoring.
Jose Marte (W, 2-0) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Hayden Wesneski (L, 1-4) allowed seven runs on eight hits over five innings to take the loss.
The Patriots and Flying Squirrels conclude their six-game set Sunday night. First pitch at The Diamond is set for 5:05 p.m.
