Hartford, Conn. - The Somerset Patriots (11-5) plated a season-high 14 runs in a dominant 14-3 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (5-11) Friday night; their second-straight win of 10 or more runs.
The 14 runs surpassed the previous season-high of 11 runs, which was set in last night’s 11-1 win in Hartford. The Patriots have now out-scored the Yard Goats 25-4 over their last two contests.
Every batter in the lineup recorded at least one hit for the second-straight night. Additionally, every batter in the lineup also scored at least one run: a first for the team this year.
Highlighting the season-best performance was Dermis Garcia. The Patriots clean-up batter went 3-for-4 on the night with a home run (5), two runs scored and a season-high four RBI.
For good measure, we just added six more runs in the 7th, including a three-run MAMO from Dermis Garcia 💣

His home run -- a three-run shot -- capped off a six-run seventh inning for the teams. That marked the most runs the team has scored in an inning this year.
Aaron Palentsky, playing in his second professional game, went 3-for-4 and reached base four times, including an RBI single that opened the scoring in the second and a two-out RBI double that finished off a four-run third inning.
Other notable contributors included Michael Beltre, who went 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBI, and Oliver Dunn, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
The Patriots plated one in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth, one in the sixth and sixth in the seventh to provide for their 14 runs.
On the mound, right-hander Luis Gil struck out nine batters while allowing just two hits and one walk over 4.2 innings of work. He was perfect through his first 3.1 innings, including six strikeouts his first time through the order.
Jefry Valdez (W, 2-0) earned the win after he allowed two runs over 2.1 innings of relief. Karl Kauffmann (L, 0-1) yielded seven runs (five earned) over five innings to take the loss.
The Patriots continue their six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats Friday night. Right-hander Shawn Semple (0-1, 6.94 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against Yard Goats righty Garrett Schilling (0-0, 4.85 ERA). First pitch from Dunkin Donuts Park is set for 6:05 p.m.
