MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (June 9, 2017) - Despite a strong outing from Thomas Hatch , the Myrtle Beach Pelicans saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end Friday in a 1-0 loss to the Carolina Mudcats at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Carolina (33-27) starter Jordan Yamamoto (1-0) dominated the Myrtle Beach (35-26) offense with six shutout innings. Kodi Medeiros then entered the contest in the seventh, and the southpaw tossed three scoreless innings en route to his first save of the season for the Muddies.

The Myrtle Beach offense threatened in the third. Trent Giambrone led off the frame with a walk. Connor Myers dumped a single into left field before advancing to second on the throw to third base, with Giambrone reaching there safely. With two men on, Bryant Flete lifted a fly ball to right field that was caught by Carlos Belonis, who then fired home to retire Giambrone for the double play.
Both teams would remain scoreless until the sixth. Corey Ray led off the frame with a double to center field before advancing to third on a fly out. Isan Díaz walked to put runners on the corners with one out for the Muddies. Jake Gatewood lifted a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Ray to give the Mudcats the lone run of the contest.
Thomas Hatch (1-6) was strong for the Myrtle Beach. The right-hander fired 5.2 innings and allowed just one run while striking out four Mudcats. Jordan Minch and Casey Bloomquist teamed up to toss 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen.
