Pelicans take series opener in Winston-Salem 6-4

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 21, 2018) - After a 6-4 extra-inning win for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Tuesday night over the Winston-Salem Dash from BB&T Ballpark, the second game of the doubleheader was postponed until Wednesday due to inclement weather.
With the game tied at 4-4 in the eighth inning, the Pelicans (57-69, 23-33) grabbed the lead for good over the Dash (75-49, 34-20). Wladimir Galindo , who started the inning at second, scored when Roberto Caro reached on an error against Hunter Schryver (0-1). Yeiler Peguero , who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, put down a perfect bunt for an RBI single later in the inning to make it 6-4. 

Garrett Kelly (2-0), who went to school in Winston-Salem at Wake Forrest, earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. 
After an RBI fielder's choice from Nick Madrigal gave the Dash a 1-0 advantage, the Pelicans took the lead in the fifth. D.J. Wilson knocked in Zach Davis with an RBI ground out before Aramis Ademan gave the Birds the lead with an RBI single. 
In the bottom of fifth inning, the Dash knotted the game up at 2-2 when Laz Rivera smacked an RBI single.
Peguero then capped a two-out rally for the Pelicans with a two-run single in the sixth, making it 4-2. 
Winston-Salem stormed right back, tying the game in the bottom of the sixth. Gavin Sheets singled in a run and Yermin Mercedes then scored on a passed ball to clasp the game at 4-4.
The Pelicans take on Winston-Salem from BB&T Ballpark at 5 p.m. on Wednesday for the first game of a doubleheader. The Pelicans will send RHP Erich Uelmen (3-2, 4.62 ERA) to the mound in game one while RHP Tyson Miller (8-8, 3.78 ERA) will take the hill for the finale.
