LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 27, 2017) - Yelmison Peralta struck out a career-high eight batters and earned his first win of the season, as the Intimidators blanked the Lexington Legends 2-0 on Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Kannapolis (13-20 Second Half, 52-49) picked up its third shutout win of the season.
Peralta (1-2) pitched 6 and 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing no runs on one hit and one walk. Lexington's Anthony Bender (3-3) took the loss allowing two runs on six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in six innings. J.B. Olson earned his first save with Kannapolis.
The Intimidators opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Alex Call tripled and was brought home on an RBI single by Mitch Roman making it 1-0.
Kannapolis added one more in the fourth inning as White Sox 2017 second-round pick Gavin Sheets hit a solo home run, his first as an Intimidator and second as a pro, to make it 2-0.
First-round pick Jake Burger added a 3-for-4 performance with his sixth double of the season.
Kannapolis continues a four-game road trip on Friday with the second game of a four-game series at Lexington. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. as the Intimidators send to the mound RHP Blake Hickman (2-5, 4.26 ERA) against a Legends starter that is TBA.
