Bowie, MD -- The Somerset Patriots (68-41) powered past the Bowie Baysox (53-57) by a score of 10-9 on Wednesday night, behind a dominant power display from Everson Pereira.

Pereira, the Yankees No. 5 prospect, drilled two home runs in the game (3), including a grand slam and the game-winning solo shot in the top of the ninth inning.

The performance marked Pereira's sixth career multi-home run and his first at the Double-A level. Pereira's five RBIs on the night are tied for the most of any Patriot in a game this season.

Pereira's two home runs and five driven in made up for only half of the Patriots' runs and home runs in the game.

After falling behind 1-0 on a Joey Ortiz solo homer in the first inning, Somerset used two second inning two-run home runs to take a 4-1 lead.

Eric Wagaman (3) hit his second in four games since being promoted to Double-A, while Andres Chaparro (12) hit his fourth since returning from the injured list. Chaparro has now homered in three straight games and four of his last five.

After Bowie tacked on a run in the third inning, Pereira's grand slam ballooned the Patriots lead to 8-2.

Somerset starter Will Warren then departed from the game, after firing 5.1 innings with a career-high-tying nine strikeouts.

After Warren left the game, the Baysox were able to spread seven runs across the sixth and seventh innings, highlighted by another home run from Ortiz--also a grand slam.

Ortiz ended the night having gone 4-for-5 with five RBIs, three runs scored and two home runs.

Chaparro added the Patriots' ninth run with an RBI-single in the seventh inning, just before Ortiz' slam.

Pereira's second home run in the top of the ninth inning proved to be the deciding blow in Somerset's third straight victory.

Emmanuel Ramirez earned the win for Somerset, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings to end the game, featuring three strikeouts. The Patriots' staff as a whole struck out 15 batters in the game.

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue in Bowie on Thursday with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Bowie Baysox at Prince George's Stadium.

Yankees No. 26 prospect RHP Deivi Garcia will get the start for Somerset opposite RHP Brenan Hanifee for Bowie.
