The win moves the Patriots to within a half-game of first place Portland, with a chance to take over sole possession of first with a game win and series win on Sunday.
With two more home runs, Somerset has now hit a total of 10 in its series in Portland, tying for their most in a series this season entering the Sunday finale.
The Patriots’ pitching staff tied a season-high by walking eight batters in the game.
RHP Gray Fenter (4.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 6 K) started for the Patriots and came one out shy of qualifying for the win.
RHP Shawn Semple (2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 K) made his first appearance of the season for the Patriots and qualified for the win.
LF Everson Pereira (2-for-3, 3 RBI, 2 R, HR, BB) got credit for the game-winning hit, when he hit his fourth home run of the season in the third inning to give the Patriots a 4-1 lead.

The home run was also Pereira’s third of the series in Portland. All three of Pereira’s home runs have had an exit velocity of 107 mph or higher.
