Phils Have Fight In 5-2 Win Over Patriots

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Reading Fightin Phils (6-24) topped the Somerset Patriots (20-9) 5-2 in the series finale at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
Diego Castillo carried Somerset’s offense throughout the afternoon. He got the scoring started early with a solo home run (4) in the first and finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs scored.

Reading then put up five unanswered runs to take control of the game. Jorge Bonifacio led the way with a solo home run (5) in the fourth and a two-run double in the seventh.
Madison Stokes also drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly and double.
Somerset’s only other run came on a bases loaded walk to Max Burt in the seventh inning.
Braden Zarbnisky (W, 2-1) struck out two in 0.2 innings pitched for the win. Janson Junk (L, 0-1) allowed two earned runs on four hits in four innings for the loss.
The Patriots will hit the road for the week and start a six-game series in Erie versus the Seawolves on Tuesday, June 8th at 7:05 pm.
