The Pigs will send RHP
RHP Jake Thompson makes his eighth start for the Pigs after taking the win in game two of last Sunday's doubleheader with the Buffalo Bisons. Thompson tossed five innings allowing just two hits (which were both bunt singles) did not issue a run while fanning four in the Pigs 1-0 victory.
RHP Austin Voth makes his eighth start for the Chiefs after picking up his fourth loss of the season against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on May 14. The Redmond, WA, native tossed 5 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four in the Chiefs 6-2 loss to the RailRiders.
Despite taking a 7-1 lead after the second inning, the Red Wings rallied for six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to end the Pigs longest winning streak in franchise history.
The Pigs got the tying run aboard in the top of the ninth in dramatic fashion. A one-out walk to
A seven run second inning put the Pigs on top in the second inning as the Pigs smacked a season-high six hits in the inning while tying their most runs in an inning. The rally began with a Dylan Cozens solo home run to right field to tie the game at 1.
Hoskins then tried to ignite a Pigs rally in the top of the seventh as he hit a one-out solo home run to left, his 12th of the season, to narrow the Pigs deficit to 10-8. The rally was short lived, as Cozens and Featherston both grounded out to thwart any type of Pigs rally.
Mariot was charged with his second loss of the season as he surrendered three runs (two earned) on four hits in just an inning of relief for the Pigs.
On the day, Hoskins bashed two home runs for the second time this season and tied his team season-high five RBI in the Pigs 10-8 loss.
Though the Pigs lost the winning streak and the final game of the series, they have won 12 out of their last 13 and have not lost a series since losing two-out-of-three games to the Toledo Mud Hens to end the month of April.
