Pigs Use Extras To Extend Winning Streak

The IronPigs (26-13) plated three runs in the top of the 11^th inning to extend their winning streak to 12 games with an 11-8 victory over the Rochester Red Wings (17-17)Wednesday night at Frontier Field.

With the score knotted at 8 in the top of the 11^th and runners on first and second, J.P. Crawford delivered a go-ahead two-run single plating Pedro Florimón and Roman Quinn to give the Pigs a 10-8 lead.
Crawford was then plated on a Jorge Alfaro ground out to extend the Pigs lead to 11-8 going into the bottom of the 11^th.
Pedro Beato then tossed a three-up-three-down bottom of the 11^th to pick up his league-leading 11^th save of the season in the Pigs 11-8 victory.
Trailing 8-4 after three, the Pigs scored three runs in the fourth inning and tied the game in the eighth inning to send it to extras.
Nick Williams led off the Pigs fourth with a solo home run to right field, the out fielders third homer of the year, cut the Red Wings lead to 8-5. Three batters later, after a Florimon base hit, Roman Quinn launched his first home run of the year to bring the Pigs within a run.
Rhys Hoskins then tied the game at 8 as he hit his 10^th home run of the year in the eighth inning, tying himself with fellow Bash Brother Dylan Cozens as the league leaders in round trippers.
The Red Wings had chances to take the lead in the eight, and win the game in the 11^th inning but a strong IronPigs bullpen that has now not allowed a run of any kind in 19 consecutive innings shut the door.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Pigs newcomer Casey Fien found trouble as ByungHo Park led off the frame with a double to left. Park was then pinch ran for by Niko Goodrum, and Goodrum was promptly advanced to third on a Leonardo Rginatto sacrifice bunt back to Fien. After Fien gave a free pass to J.B. Shuck, he struck out John Ryan Murphy before giving way to Pat Venditte out of the bullpen.
Venditte then got Engel Vielma to fly out to right to end the Red Wings threat.
The switch-pitcher however found himself in a bind in the bottom of the 10^th inning and saw his scoreless innings streak and the Pigs winning streak fading.
After loading the bases, Venditte forced Murphy to ground into an inning-ending double play to erase the Red Wings threat and push Venditte's scoreless innings streak to 21 innings and picked up his third win of the season.
The Pigs fell behind 8-4 in the early innings as Pigs starter Ricardo Pinto surrendered eight runs (four earned) on nine hits in three innings and gave up a three-run home run to Murphy in the third that put the Red Wings up 8-4.
 The series continues with game three of the four-game set Thursday night from Frontier Field as the Pigs will send right-hander Mark Appel (2-2, 5.93) and the Red Wings will send left-hander Jason Wheeler (2-1, 4.22). First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
