Jackson, Tenn. - Iván Pineyro turned in one of the best starts of the season Sunday night, pitching seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 win for the Generals over Jacksonville. The righty struck out 12 without walking a batter, and Jackson was able to push across a run in the seventh inning to secure a series win.
The first man Pineyro (6-0, 1.95) faced reached before he got into a groove. Alex Yarbrough led off the game for Jacksonville with a single, but Austin Nola followed by hitting into a double play. That was the first of 19 consecutive batters retired by Pineyro. His 12 strikeouts were tied for the most by a General this season, following Taylor Clarke's 12 against Jacksonville May 27.

Jacksonville's Chris Mazza wasn't as dominant, but managed to keep pace with Pineyro through six scoreless innings. The Generals had three hits against the opposing starter, but left the bases loaded in the third inning.
Jackson (3-1, 40-34) finally pushed a run across in the seventh. With two outs and nobody on, B.J. López singled for his second hit of the game. He moved to third on a single by pinch-hitter Travis Denker. With Colin Walsh batting, Lopez scored on a wild pitch by Jeff Kinley (0-1, 9.00) in his Double-A debut.
The run by Lopez wound up being enough. The catcher had his first two Double-A hits in just his second game with the Generals. Jackson had five hits total, all of which were singles.
Jacksonville (1-3, 31-43) had just four on base all game long. After three hits against Pineyro, the Shrimp came up empty against Joey Krehbiel and Gabriel Moya. Krehbiel pitched a perfect eighth in his return to the active roster, while Moya (S, 12) earned his third save in four nights. Yarbrough reached with one out in the ninth on an error, but Moya induced the game-ending double play.
The game took just 2:02, making it the shortest nine-inning game for the Generals this season. It was the team's eighth shutout victory, and third victory in which they've scored just a run. With the victory, the Generals clinched their third series win in a row after taking three of the first four from Jacksonville.
The Generals will try to make it four of five in their final game of the season against the Shrimp Monday afternoon. All-Star Taylor Clarke (6-3, 2.92) will make his first start of the Second Half against lefty Matt Tomshaw (6-4, 3.65).
