Danny Mars led off the game with a homer down the right-field off winning pitcher A.J. Ladwig. The lead-off homer was the first for a Sea Dog since Marco Hernández on July 7, 2015 at Reading. Ladwig allowed a season-high 11 hits over five innings but earned the win.
Elih Villanueva (Loss, 1-2) worked five innings on seven hits, six runs (five earned), one walk and fanned six.
The Sea Dogs led 2-0 in the first on Mars's homer and a run-scoring double by Henry Urrutia. Erie responded in their first, tying the game.
In the second, Mars snapped a 2-2 tie with an RBI and single and Tzu-Wei Lin delivered a sacrifice fly. Erie plated three runs in the second inning, receiving the game-winning RBI on a two-run single by Christin Stewart. Logan Watkins added the final run with a homer in the third.
Erie's Sean Donatello, Bryan Garcia and Jairo Labourt combined for 4 innings on no hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Labourt earned his third save of the year.
Taylor Grover worked three scoreless on one hit and one strikeout in relief for Portland.
The Sea Dogs wrap-up their nine-game roadtrip on Wednesday afternoon with a 12:05 PM first pitch from UPMC Park. LHP Trey Ball (1-6, 5.93) makes the start for Portland. Erie counters with RHP Myles Jays (1-6, 3.92).
