CHARLOTTE, NC (May 18, 2023) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bested the Charlotte Knights 8-3 at Truist Field Thursday evening. Will Warren notched a quality start in his Triple-A debut and the RailRiders hit three more home runs to win their third straight on the trip.

Former RailRider and Yankee Clint Frazier opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second off Warren, giving Charlotte their first lead of the series.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre quickly answered with three runs in the third. Jesus Bastidas was hit by a pitch and Michael Hermosillo launched a 1-0 pitch from Sean Burke 394 feet to left for a 2-1 RailRiders lead. Wilmer Difo singled on the first pitch he saw, stole second and scored on a steal of third with a throwing error bringing him home for a 3-1 lead.

After a one-out walk of Carlos Narvaez in the fourth, Billy McKinney drilled a 434-feet home run to center for a 5-1 edge.

After Lenyn Sosa hit his second home run of the series, bringing Charlotte back within three after four complete, Estevan Florial hit his third in three games to push the advantage back to four at 6-2.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre added a pair of runs in the top of the ninth on a walk, a hit batter and an error for an 8-2 lead. Frazier led off the bottom of the ninth with his second home run of the night and third of the series to cap the scoring.

Warren (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Burke (0-3) took the loss after surrendering the first six runs of the night, four of which were earned, on four hits over five innings.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Charlotte play game four of this six-game set Friday night. Tanner Tully gets the call for the RailRiders and matches up against the Knights and Daniel Ponce De Leon. First pitch is slated for 7:04 P.M.
