RailRiders get payback in 12-3 victory over Chiefs
After the Syracuse Chiefs scored 21 runs in the previous two games, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders got some revenge with a 12-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. Irving Falu drove in two runs on the day for the Chiefs.
After the Syracuse Chiefs scored 21 runs in the previous two games, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders got some revenge with a 12-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (17-16) started the scoring with a bang in the top of the first inning. After a Tyler Wade strikeout to lead off the inning, right fielder Dustin Fowler smacked a home run over the right-field fence off Syracuse starter
The RailRiders added to their lead in the second inning. Following a Cito Culver strikeout to begin the inning, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre strung together three straight base hits. First, Eddy Rodriguez and Abiatal Avelino hit back-to-back singles. Wade then doubled to left field, plating both Rodriguez and Avelino. A Fowler strikeout broke up the stretch, but a new streak started with a Clint Frazier walk. With runners on first and second, Choi delivered a double to right field scoring Wade and advancing Frazier to third. Choi and Frazier scored in the next at-bat on a Rob Refsnyder double to right field putting the RailRiders in front 7-0.
