RENO, Nevada - The Tacoma Rainiers (13-15) dropped their series opener against the Reno Aces (11-18) by a final score of 10-1 on Friday night at Greater Nevada Field.
Left fielder John Andreoli posted the only multi-hit effort for Tacoma, going 2-for-3 with one run scored and a walk. Second baseman Gordon Beckham reached base twice on a single and a walk.

Tacoma opened the scoring with a run in the top of the third, but quickly fell behind as Reno scored four runs in the bottom of the frame. The Aces continued to build on their lead through the sixth inning, ultimately working their way to the final margin of 10-1.
Rainiers starting pitcher Rob Whalen (3-2) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits across 4.2 innings of work. He tossed 97 pitches (53 strikes) and struck out four while walking five.
Right-hander Max Povse (1-4, 7.13) takes the mound for Tacoma as the series continues on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. PT. Reno will run out right-hander Albert Suárez (0-0, 6.75).
