MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Tacoma Rainiers (29-31) dropped game two of a three-game series to the Memphis Redbirds (36-24) by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.
Center fielder Andrew Aplin, who recently returned to Tacoma from Double-A Arkansas, contributed the Rainiers only multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4. First baseman Daniel Vogelbach reached base three times on a 1-for-2, two walk outing.

Tacoma starting pitcher Christian Bergman (4-4) collected his fifth quality start of the season, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings of work. He issued three walks and struck out three while taking the loss.
Memphis jumped out in front with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held onto their lead until designated hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew Tacoma even at 1-1 with an RBI triple in the top of the fourth inning.
Alex Mejia collected his second RBI of the game with a ground ball single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth that gave the lead back to Memphis at 2-1. The score would hold there, giving the host Redbirds a victory to even the series at one game apiece.
Shawn Armstrong (1.0 IP) and Nick Rumbelow (1.0 IP) both tossed scoreless innings out of the Rainiers bullpen - the duo combined to allow just one hit while issuing three walks.
The Rainiers and Redbirds wrap up their short three-game series on Thursday night at 5:05 p.m. PT. Tacoma will send right-hander Lindsey Caughel (1-2, 7.88) to square off against Memphis righty Dakota Hudson (6-2, 2.69).
