NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tacoma Rainiers (31-33) evened up their road trip with a 5-4 extra-innings victory over the Nashville Sounds (30-31) on Sunday night at First Tennessee Park.
Tacoma starting pitcher Casey Lawrence delivered a gem for the visiting Rainiers - he allowed just one run on five hits over six innings of work. Lawrence walked one and struck out seven but did not factor into the decision.

The Rainiers offense was led by third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (2x4, 3B, 3 RBI) and shortstop Gordon Beckham, who delivered the game-winning double in the top of the 10th inning and finished the night 2-for-5 with two RBI. Left fielder Ian Miller (2x3, R) collected a pair of hits, while center fielder John Andreoli (0x2, 2 R, 3 BB) reached base three times on a trio of walks.
Tacoma entered the eighth inning trailing 1-0 with just four hits on the evening. Miller and Andreoli proceeded to reach base, putting pressure on Nashville and setting up some late-inning heroics. Two batters later, Mejias-Brean smoked a two-run triple to left center field, scoring Miller and Andreoli and giving the Rainiers a 2-1 lead.
Nashville rallied for a run in the bottom of the ninth inning, tying things up at 2-2 and sending the game to extra innings.
The Rainiers opened the first inning of extras with a three-run rally to retake the lead. Beckham lined a two-run double into left field to push Tacoma out in front 4-2, and a Nashville error extended the Rainiers lead to 5-2.
The Sounds collected two runs in the bottom of the 10th and placed the tying run at first base, but Shawn Armstrong worked out of the jam, securing a 5-4 victory for the Rainiers.
Anthony McIver (1.0 IP) and Nick Rumbelow (1.0 IP) both logged scoreless innings from the Rainiers bullpen - they combined to hold the Sounds without a hit while striking out three. Armstrong (1-2) pitched the ninth and the tenth for Tacoma, earning the win.
The Rainiers and Sounds wrap up their road series on Monday night at 5:05 p.m. PT. Tacoma right-hander Christian Bergman (4-4, 3.82) will start opposite Nashville righty James Naile (5-5, 3.57).
