It had been nearly a month since Luis Paz hit a round tripper. The fifth inning on Wednesday against Great Falls was an opportune time to break his drought. Paz launched a solo blast to tie the game in the middle innings, his 11th of the year, and later doubled with two down in the ninth to put the Ogden Raptors in front of the Voyagers. The Raptors went on to win, 6-4, and snap a three-game skid including the first two at Centene Stadium.
Raptors starter Osiris Ramirez ran into trouble in the first inning, as four Voyagers runners reached base. Only one scored and another was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. Two more crossed in the second, after the Raptors plated two in the top half on a Kevin Lachance bunt single and Garrett Hope line drive to right field.
The Paz home run knotted the game in the fifth, but Great Falls tied it again in the seventh after an error on a fielder's choice.
The game went to the ninth tied, 4-4. Hope popped out but Samuel Ortiz drew a full-count walk. Mitchell Hansen grounded into a fielder's choice but beat a potential double play throw to first to keep the inning alive. Paz took three balls and then hit a slicing drive toward the corner in left field. Great Falls left fielder Craig Dedelow chased the ball and reached out, but it dropped just past his glove. Hansen motored around to score and give Ogden the lead. Paz then scored for a two-run lead when Rylan Bannon singled to center.
Zach Hartman struck out the side in a perfect ninth for his second save.
