The last time the Ogden Raptors were at the Home of the Owlz, they saw Orem walk off in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the 2016 Pioneer League Southern Division title on their way to the championship.
Monday night, the Raptors returned to Orem and blasted the defending champs, 13-9, to open the 2017 campaign.
Catcher Hendrik Clementina and third baseman Cristian Santana were standouts at the plate for Ogden. Clementina had four hits and drove in four runs, and Santana put the first runs of the season on the board with a two-run home run in the first as part of a 2-for-3, three-run, three-walk game.
At the bottom of the order, left fielder Daniel Padilla and second baseman Samuel Ortiz contributed with identical lines: 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored.
The Raptors went out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and were up by eight, 10-2, going to the sixth. Orem scored two in the sixth and four in the eighth to make the final score closer than most of the game appeared.
