Rattlers Fall 8-3 to Kane County in Game Two

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Kane County Cougars built too big a lead for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to rally from in game two of Sunday's doubleheader. Wisconsin had stormed back from a 3-0 deficit in game one to win 4-3, but the Cougars took a 6-0 lead in game two and added on to beat the Rattlers 8-3.
Kane County (29-26) charged to the lead with four runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Joey Rose started the inning with a single. Jancarlos Cintron was next and he hit a home run to right-center and the Cougars were up 2-0.

Gabriel Maciel restarted the rally with a single. Jasrado Chisholm would double to drive in Maciel. Rattlers starter Alec Bettinger got the next batter, but would allow an RBI single to Renae Martinez and the Cougars had a 4-0 lead.

Ernie De La Trinidad made it 6-0 in favor of Kane County with a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning.

Wisconsin (25-32) rallied in the fifth inning with three runs against Cougars starting pitcher Jake Winston. Tristen Lutz and Gilbert Lara started to uprising with back-to-back singles. Devin Hairston keep the line moving with a single to center to score Lutz. Trever Morrison cashed in two more runs with a two-out double to center. Winston, who was making just his second start as a professional after 71 relief appearances since 2016, would walk Demi Orimoloye to bring the tying run to the plate. Winston would leave for some bullpen help and he got it as Breckin Williams struck out Pat McInerney. The Rattlers would get one more hit in the game.

Rose padded the Cougars lead in the top of the sixth inning with an RBI triple.

Kane County added one more run with a bases loaded walk to Tufts in the top of the seventh.

The teams split the doubleheader, but Kane County won the series by taking two of the three games

The Timber Rattlers are off on Monday. They will return to action on Tuesday to start a three-game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits. Bowden Francis (1-3, 5.66) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Game time is 7:05pm.
