GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Kane County Cougars Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Rattlers rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 to beat the Cougars.
Kane County (53-53 overall, 18-19 second half) had the lead two batters into the game.
Both teams squandered bases-loaded opportunities early in the game. The Cougars had a runner on every base with one out in the top of the second, but could not add on. The Rattlers loaded the bases with two outs in the third, but left them that way when the inning ended.
The Cougars went back in front in the top of the sixth.
The Rattlers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Andrews would strike out two batters in the seventh as he pitched around a one-out walk. Then, he struck out two more Cougars while working a 1-2-3 eighth to keep the game tied.
Wisconsin grabbed their first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth.
The win allowed the Rattlers to earn a split in the four-game series with the Cougars. It also gave the Rattlers a 14-13 record in the month of July.
Wisconsin hosts Burlington in the first game of a three-game series on Wednesday night to start the month of August.
