Bulls' Bauers hits first Triple-A homer

Tampa Bay's top prospects are finding their power strokes.
One day after top-ranked Rays prospectWilly Adames hit his first Triple-A homer, No. 4 prospect Jake Bauers followed suit and belted a two-run shot on Sunday in Durham's 7-5 loss to Gwinnett at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

With Adames on first after drawing a one-out walk in the opening inning, Bauers sent a 1-1 offering from Braves starter Aaron Blair over the right field bleachers to lift the Bulls into a 2-2 tie. 

The 21-year-old outfielder/first baseman worked a five-pitch walk to start the eighth but was erased one batter later when Rays No. 5 prospect Casey Gillaspie hit into a double play. Bauers went 1-for-3 and is hitting .238/.319/.333 with four RBIs and five walks through 10 games at the Minor Leagues' highest level.
Bauers received his second invitation to Major League camp this spring after collecting a career-high 14 homers and 78 RBIs for Double-A Montgomery in 2016. The California native batted .371/.465/.857 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 17 Grapefruit League games.
