Portland, Maine - The Reading Fightin Phils (17-27) hit a season-high six home runs and battered the Sea Dogs (16-29) en route to an 11-5 win in front of a sellout crowd in the series opener on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Hernandez finished with four hits and was a double shy of the cycle. Tomscha had three hits and fell a triple short of the cycle himself.

Reading jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three and led 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Sea Dogs tied the game on homers by Rivera and Witte to make it 4-4.
The Fightins answered quickly on Marrero's second home run in the sixth, then added eight more runs over the final three innings to extend the lead.
Jo Jo Romero (W, 2-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings.
