OTTAWA, ON - The Tri-City ValleyCats arrived in Ottawa on Tuesday for a key divisional matchup with the Ottawa Titans as the 2022 Frontier League regular season nears its conclusion. The two teams would square off in a doubleheader, making up a previously scheduled game postponed due to weather at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on August 18th. The doubleheader commenced at 5:30 PM EST on Tuesday in Ottawa.

Austin Faith got the start for the ‘Cats in game one of the twin bill. Faith surrendered just one run in 4.1 IP en route to his second win of the season. The only Tri-City reliever used in game one would be RHP Adam Hofacket, who would spin 2.2 IP and secure his first save of the season in one of his longest outings of the season.

5 of the 6 Tri-City runs would score via the longball. Brad Zunica would get the ValleyCats on the board with his third grand slam of the season, Cito Culver would add on with a solo shot. The sixth run would score on a Brantley Bell RBI single. Bell would record a 4-for-4 game in the first game of the doubleheader and series.

Game two of the twin bill started just over 30 minutes after the completion of game one. The Titans would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on the fielder’s choice. The Tri-City deficit would not last long. The ‘Cats scored a total of six unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings to jump out to a six to one lead.

Offensively, Cito Culver tallied two doubles, while Pavin Parks and Carson McCusker would both record multi-RBI games.

Ryan Williamson dazzled in his start on Tuesday night. The lefty spun 6 innings of 4-hit, 1-run baseball, before making way for Trey Cochran-Gill to close the door on the doubleheader sweep for the ‘Cats.

The ‘Cats continue their longest road trip of the season tomorrow in Ottawa in game 3 of a 4 game set with the Titans, before heading to Pomona, NY for a weekend visit with the Boulders. First pitch of game 3 is scheduled for 6:30 PM EST on Wednesday.
