FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Behind a masterful pitching performance by Jackson Wolf, the Fort Wayne TinCaps beat the Quad Cities River Bandits (Kansas City Royals affiliate), 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field.

The left-hander from the Columbus, Ohio, area struck out a professional career-high 11 batters over 6 2/3 two-hit innings, marking the longest outing of the season by a TinCaps (17-28) pitcher. Wolf didn't allow a hit through the first five innings, or even a walk through the first 4 1/3. Ultimately, he left after 91 pitches (65 strikes) and received a big ovation from the hearty crowd of 4,727 fans.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne raced out to a quick lead. The TinCaps' first four batters all reached base, including left fielder Corey Rosier, who doubled in shortstop Jarryd Dale. Third baseman *Olivier Basabe *and right fielder *Agustín Ruiz *contributed sacrifice flies in the home first to make it 3-0.

The 'Caps added to their lead in the second as center fielder *Robert Hassell III *delivered a two-out, RBI single. Then in the sixth, Rosier provided a two-out, run-scoring single himself that upped the lead to 5-0.

The River Bandits (18-27) scored their lone run in the seventh after Wolf departed, though it was charged to his line.

The TinCaps got the tally right back though as designated hitter *Brandon Valenzuela *belted a home run to left field for his second of the season.

Dale, Rosier, and Valenzuela had two hits each, with Fort Wayne out-hitting Quad Cities on the day, 9-3.

Wolf's 11 strikeouts were the most for a 'Caps pitcher this season. He's one of only six pitchers in the Midwest League to strike out at least 11 in a game this year.
