EASTLAKE, Ohio -- The TinCaps hit a season-high four home runs as they powered by the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Guardians affiliate), 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Classic Auto Group Park. Fort Wayne took the series in the process, winning four of the six games in the Cleveland area.
Third baseman Marcos Castañon hit the opening salvo -- a three-run shot three batters into the game. Castañon now has five homers on the season. He's tied with Nathan Martorella (No. 23 Padres prospect) for the team lead, while they also rank third in the High-A Midwest League.
After No. 16 Guardians prospect Juan Brito, Lake County's second baseman, hit a solo homer in the third, the TinCaps flexed their muscle some more. Left fielder Lucas Dunn went deep for the second day in a row, putting the 'Caps up 4-1 in the sixth.
The Captains got that run back in the bottom half of that frame, but then center fielder Jakob Marsee (No. 22 Padres prospect) and shortstop
Though Lake County again put up a single run in its half of the eighth, the home side wouldn't get any closer. Jason Blanchard earned the save with three innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts.
Ryan Bergert (No. 24 Padres prospect), who grew up just about an hour away in Canton, started and struck out five over his four innings. Fellow Ohio native Nick Thwaits was the bridge-man pitching the fifth and sixth.
