NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - The Memphis Redbirds (77-52) avoided the sweep, beating the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Miami) 5-3, Thursday night in New Orleans. It was the final game the two will play against one another this season.
The Redbirds jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the game, scoring runs in the second, third, and fifth innings. New Orleans scored three in the sixth before Memphis tacked on an insurance run in the eighth. Despite their win tonight, New Orleans won the season-series over Memphis 9-7.
Memphis hit two home runs in the game. Adolis Garica went deep in the second inning, hitting a solo home run. It was his first home run since returning from St. Louis, and his 22nd of the season.
