Reds' Gutierrez suspended for 80 games

Vladimir Gutierrez was one of four Minor Leaguers suspended for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, Major League Baseball announced Sunday. The No. 15 Reds prospect received an 80-game suspension after he tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Stanozolol.

Dodgers prospects Reza Aleaziz and Juan Idrogo and Jose Rosario of the Twins also received suspensions for at least 50 games.

Gutierrez spent all of 2019 with Triple-A Louisville, where he struggled through the worst year of his professional career. The 24-year-old went 6-11 with a 6.07 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across 137 innings. Gutierrez matched his career high with 27 starts and struck out 137, including a personal-best 13 in his final outing of the year.

In 2016, Cincinnati signed the native of Havana, Cuba for $4.75 million.

Aleaziz was the Dodgers' 28th-round pick in the 2018 Draft out of Oklahoma State University. The 24-year-old right-hander won all four of his decisions and posted a 2.37 ERA while fanning 34 in 30 1/3 innings across 27 relief outings with Rookie Advanced Ogden and Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga in 2019. Aleaziz received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for the stimulant Amphetamine.

Idrogo, who signed with Los Angeles last summer and had yet to appear in a professional game, picked up a 72-game suspension after testing positive for gw501516, a performance-enhancing substance. The right-hander was slated to pitch for the Dodgers' Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Shoemaker squad.

Rosario made his debut last season and batted .248/.422/.283 with 15 stolen bases in 42 games for the Rookie-level DSL Twins. The 18-year-old infielder earned a 50-game ban following a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Including Sunday's violations, 11 Minor Leaguers have been suspended for drug-related offenses in 2020.
