Reno, Nev. – After defeating the Round Rock Express in a five-game series this past week, the Reno Aces (14-3, 49-43) will head to Tacoma to take on the Rainiers (8-10, 51-42), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in a three-game series following the All-star break festivities, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 on Friday July 19 at Cheney Stadium.

The Aces and Rainiers have previously matched up 18 times this season, with Tacoma taking the advantage with 11 wins so far. After the three-game series in Tacoma, the two clubs will match up a final time at Greater Nevada Field the week of August 6.

Notable players on the Rainiers roster include RHP Emerson Hancock and OF Cade Marlowe.

Hancock tossed a gem in his lone start against the Aces this season, shutting them down across six scoreless frames with only four hits and no walks, striking out five. The right-hander was unhittable in June, earning the Pacific Coast pitcher of the month after posting an 0.84 ERA through 21 2/3 innings, surrendering just 14 hits and seven across four outings, holding his opponents to a .187 batting average. However, he was at his worst in his most recent outing against the Albuquerque Isotopes on June 13, allowing five runs on nine hits through five innings. Hancock will be a difficult challenge for the Aces as he carries a 2.49 ERA and a 34:16 K: BB in 43 1/3 frames into the series.

Cade Marlowe has torched Reno this season, leading the Rainiers to 11 wins over the Aces with six home runs, 12 RBI, and 10 BB with nine stolen bases in 76 plate appearances. Overall, the outfielder has slashed .219/.329/.516 with seven extra-base hits in 16 games vs Reno. Marlowe has been productive in July, going 15-for-44 (.341) with two doubles, two triples, and two home runs with six RBI and 11 walks. The Aces must maintain Marlowe’s talent by keeping him off the bases and out of the air.

Adrian Del Castillo has smashed the Rainiers pitching this season, posting a .381/.443/.762 slash line with eight doubles, four round-trippers, and 13 walks. The backstop continues to build upon his breakout season, leading the PCL in extra-base hits (54), total bases (204), doubles (31), OPS (1.003), and runs (76).

Andres Chaparro, the PCL player of the month in June, was an issue for Tacoma in their previous series, roping three doubles and two home runs in the series loss. Playing in all 18 matchups vs the Rainiers this season, Chapparo has brought in 11 extra-base hits, including six bombs, while leading the squad with 18 RBI. The Venezuelan has been red-hot lately, hitting .543/.569/.913, with five doubles, four home runs, and 18 RBI in July.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, July 23, to host their Silver-State rivals, the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
